Role Description
 

We are looking for a full-time on-site Machine Learning Engineer at AQL Robotics’ labs in Tampere. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of roboticists, mechanical designers, and software engineers to develop next-generation, AI driven robotic systems. This role involves building and refining ML models that enhance perception, control, and decision-making in robots. You will leverage simulation environments, synthetic data generation, and reinforcement learning techniques to improve performance, reliability, and adaptability of our robotics platforms.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Design and implement machine learning algorithms for robotics applications, including but not limited to reinforcement learning, sensor fusion, and computer vision

  • Develop simulation and synthetic data generation pipelines to accelerate AI model training and validation

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering teams to integrate AI models with robotic control systems

  • Deploy and optimize models on embedded hardware for real-time performance

  • Assist in building robust testing and validation frameworks for both software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulations

  • Contribute to research and development efforts to keep AQL Robotics at the cutting edge of autonomous systems
     

Qualifications
 

  • Strong understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts and algorithms

  • Hands-on experience with reinforcement learning, simulation environments, and synthetic data generation

  • Solid background in robotics, control theory, or related fields

  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, C++) and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)

  • Experience with CAD tools or mechanical engineering principles is a strong plus

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of projects

  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
